The Engineering Department within Jumbo consists out of an energetic and enthusiastic group of Engineers and Draftsmen. Together with coworkers from Project Management and Operations you will, as a team, be responsible to bring your project to a successful conclusion.
THE JOB- responsible for the performance of transport engineering of heavy lift cargo; work method determination, stowage plans, lifting plans, securing plans (stability, strength etc.);
- has an overview of the engineering aspects of the project;
- design, calculate and make arrangements for steel constructions required for a project;
- verify and check all engineering work performed for the project;
- solve problems and come up with creative ideas to reach the goals set;
- liaise with the clients on technical issues and liaise with the Operations Department and vessel marine crew on operational issues;
- consult with assigned Cargo Superintendent regarding execution of project;
- manage purchase of required materials via the Purchase Department;
- manage and monitor engineering work that is outsourced.
THE PROFILE- Bsc. or Msc. degree (i.e. Mechanical or Civil Engineering or Naval Architecture);
- 8-10 years (applicable) experience in marine industry (vessel stability, motions, etc.), preferably in heavy lift shipping;
- knowledge of the heavy lift industry, knowledge of heavy lift rules & regulations;
- knowledge of structural engineering is a plus;
- fully conversant in English (verbally and in writing);
- willing to travel;
- key competencies: team player with hands-on attitude, gives high priority to quality and safety, keen, good problem solving skills, analytical and pro-active.
